“This established biennial conference was revamped and relaunched for 2017, with new educational workshops, impressive industry speakers, global suppliers and extended networking opportunities which made CabWire 2017 bigger and better than ever. The new forum is a joint venture between the International Wire & Machinery Association (IWMA) and the International Wire and Cable Exhibitors Association (IWCEA), and ran alongside the International Tube Association (ITA) conference which is a logical development” said Peter Large, IWMA Technical Chairman.

They included: Polymer extrusion for cables; Cable design; Wire drawing; Conductor design; Induction heating; and, Stranding process. The busy schedule provided areas of interest for experienced candidates looking for a refresher or those new to the industry eager to learn more about the cable manufacture process. CabWire organisers were thrilled at how well attended and successful these workshops proved to be. And if a full day being brought up to speed on the industry wasn’t enough then attendees were able to meet fellow delegates and industry peers on board a specially chartered ship for a stunning evening cruise along the Rhine River. This free event was made available to all delegates where they could enjoy dinner, drinks and entertainment, and network with old friends and new – the evening was extremely well attended and will become a regular feature.

Peter Large, IWMA Technical Chairman also wishes to thank LEONI Kerpen GmbH for allowing Cabwire forum to visit their cable manufacturing facility on 8th November. The tour was a phenomenal success with delegates – being very well attended and enjoyed by all. Cabwire were delighted to have secured an exclusive organised visit to LEONI Kerpen GmbH for a tour of this advanced manufacturing facility.
